Who We Are

Who sets the standard.

Criterion One was built by practitioners. Our job is to hold you to a measurable standard and give you the path to reach it.

01 / Who We Are

Experience you can measure.

Real-World

We don't teach from a place of theory. We teach from real-world application and experience. Ours was earned on global operations in support of national-level missions, foreign and domestic, where the standard wasn't a grade: it was the job.

Active

Coaching didn't take us off the line. We're still competitors first, not instructors who used to shoot, so everything we teach is pressure-tested by us before it ever reaches you.

Measured

Nothing we coach is left to subjectivity. Every drill resolves to a defined criterion: a number you either hit or you don't. Progress is something you can see.

Criterion One is led by its two co-founders. That's the cadre. And we're still measured. Both are active, multi-discipline competition shooters in the endless pursuit of mastery, competing against some of the best in the country. It's the same test we put in front of you: performance in a standardized environment, timed and scored on demand. We hold ourselves to the criterion before we ask you to meet it.

02 / The Founders
Mike Murray — Co-Founder, Criterion One

Mike Murray

Co-Founder
mike@criterionone.com

Mike retired from the U.S. Army in 2018 after 26 years of service, including 15 years in an Army Special Mission Unit, where performance had to be delivered on demand. Despite decades of firearms experience, competing in USPSA since 2021 changed how he approached training: pushing beyond his current ability, treating failure as information, and using it to identify exactly what needs work. That approach now shapes his instruction.

Mike’s coaching focus is developing self-sufficient shooters. He teaches students how to practice—how to choose the right drills, measure performance, identify weaknesses, and decide what to train next—so continued improvement doesn’t depend on having an instructor beside them.

Zac Wolfe — Co-Founder, Criterion One

Zac Wolfe

Co-Founder
zac@criterionone.com

Zac spent 12 years in law enforcement, ten of them assigned to SWAT, and four years with GRS. Losing a friend and coworker changed how he approached training. The job carried real consequences, so he developed a process he could trust when performance mattered most.

Zac’s coaching focus is real-time diagnosis and correction. Students learn to recognize problems as they happen, apply the right correction, and train it until the skill becomes automatic—freeing them to focus on the situation in front of them. He competes in USPSA, PCSL, and the Men’s Elite Division of The Tactical Games, holding himself to the same standards he teaches.

Sabrina Gohlke, LCSW — Mental Performance Coach

Sabrina Gohlke, MSW, LCSW

Licensed Clinical Social Worker — Mental Performance & Nervous System Training
sabrinagtherapy@gmail.com

Sabrina Gohlke is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker specializing in trauma, anxiety, nervous system regulation, and performance under pressure. She has extensive experience working with veterans, first responders, healthcare professionals, athletes, moms, and adults navigating chronic stress and high-demand environments.

In her clinical practice, Sabrina helps individuals move out of chronic survival mode by understanding how stress and past experiences shape the brain, body, thoughts, emotions, and behavior. Her approach integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness, somatic awareness, and nervous-system-informed strategies. Her style is practical, collaborative, direct, and experiential — helping people work with their nervous system rather than trying to control or eliminate stress.

With Criterion One, Sabrina helps individuals build nervous system awareness, recognize how stress uniquely shows up in their body, thoughts, emotions, and behavior, and develop individualized cues and reset strategies for performing under pressure. Her work addresses performance anxiety, perfectionism, self-criticism, confidence, identity, and the tendency to tie self-worth to outcomes. The goal is not to eliminate stress, but to build the capacity to experience pressure without becoming overwhelmed by it — remaining connected and alert, responding to what is actually happening, and meeting the moment rather than automatically reacting from survival patterns.
